Transiting at Hong Kong!

9.00pm
My first step into HK! The airport is sure big! 7 storeys and hehe, really a lot of shopping can be done here. Saw the Coach bags but unfortunately didn’t have time to print out what Yenching wanted so that I can compare prices between US and HK.

9.30pm
Here's the plane parked at HK during the transit.

The queue in was really long while boarding back to the plane… So I thought why not take a photo instead of waiting in the queue.

The plane is literally fully booked and I have to go back and sit in my original seat.

11.00pm
Should I take supper even though I’m not used to having supper? I took it. Chose the famous chicken one.. mmm and I had Haagen Daaz vanilla ice cream for dessert ..but forgot to take any photos of the food.. =p

11.30pm
Since the Laptop is running low on batt, I decided to watch “Just Follow Lor”. It’s really Jack Neo at his best. Funny and yet sentimental. But it is no doubt a Singaporean film.. Singaporean jokes which probably only Singaporeans will understand.

12.00am 14th July 2007
Bad turbulence again. Thankfully I’ve finished my food.

2.00am
Finished my movie and tried sleeping. But the person beside me snores! And I just couldn’t ignore it! =P Was pretty irritated =P

3.00am
Terrible backache eating into me maybe due to the prolonged seating.

4.00am
Very bad turbulence again. But somehow, I took it gladly.. It’s like a super rocky massage chair, easing my backache =p

4.30am
Finally managed to get some sleep after getting a second cushion. I really felt like a pampered kid when the air stewardess came back with another pillow.

7.00am
Time to wake up! Washed up and noticed 4 new pimples popping out! :(

8.00am
Breakfast time I suppose..
Or is it dinner at SF time (4pm). I’m getting confused with the time changes.

8.15am
Thought I would watch “Meet the Robinsons” before I land. It was a good “moral” show, especially the ending. Never give up, just keep moving forward and yes, everything starts in your heart. What a timely reminder and encouragement as I land in SF.

10.00am (7pm San Francisco Time)
Landing… that’s pretty fast! Supposed to land SF at 725pm but it’s only 7pm =). But check out was a little slow at the immigration though. The queue was long, but after passing through the immigration counter, the security didn’t even wanted to scan my stuff. Waited a while for my luggage. Was eyes wide open in this unfamiliar surrounding, thus I didn’t stop to take photos of the baggage collection area.

Took my luggage and went out. So here I am at the walkway to the arrival hall.
I'm in the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, I'm in CALIFORNIA, I'm at SAN FRANCISCO!!!

I was one of the last to go out as I went to the washroom first. I see no Ian. Am I lost? Do I need to give him a call? I walked to a bench and was about to sit down when I think I saw my cousin walking towards the arrival gate. I went up to him, tapped him on his back and said “Is that you, Ian?” =) It’s amazing that after 10 long years (yes, he visited Singapore after he completed law school in 1997), we could still recognized each other =)

I couldn’t find anything interesting in the SF airport. Not even a tourist map. So here I am, a little frog out of the well, into the world without a map! =p Met Lisa (Ian’s wife) for the first time in my life. She’s such a nice lady. Hmmm all my cousins have got sweet wives.. =p

Driving out of the airport, I was told that the “mess of highways” that I see is only so at this San Francisco Airport, the rest of the areas have pretty straight roads. LA will be more flyovers here and there.

11.30am Singapore Time (8.30pm San Francisco time )
Reached Ian’s home at San Carlos. =) It’s late evening but it’s still bright. Finally took a nice clean bath after an almost 20 hour flight. After my bath, the sky turned dark. Then we headed out for their dinner (my lunch). We went to the town of San Mateo for dinner. Dinner was nice Japanese food. The price difference isn’t too much as compared to Singapore. =)
Went back to have a good night's sleep after such a long day. As for what will be for tomorrow, i left it to Ian and Liza to do all the planning for me. =)
