To Grand Canyon!!

23rd July (California / Las Vegas Time)
After such a long day yesterday, I slept from 2am till 6.30am today. Woke up to catch the early coach at 7am. Ate my first granola bar (apple crisp) for breakfast before dozing off to sleep in the coach again. I was still so tired that I slept almost the whole 5 hour journey to Grand Canyon. The weather’s cool and the sky looks dark and gloomy. Weather forecast had indicated that there’ll be thunderstorm in the afternoon. Hope it won’t rain when we are at Grand Canyon.

Paid US12 for the Grand Canyon Imax Show.
It simply tells you the greatness and history of Grand Canyon. Ate another granola bar for lunch (quaker choc chip).

It was such a dampener that the rain was very heavy when we reached Grand Canyon. This is how wet it was.

Thank God that the rained stopped!! The sky begin clearing up and everyone began to take photos and photos. Just like what the narrator in the show said, we can never finish taking the photos of Grand Canyon. It is just way toooo grand.
Just to give an idea of how deep the Grand Canyon is, if you can enlarge this picture, see how small the people are on top of the cliff. And this photo is only taking the tip of the whole Canyon..

At the bottom of the V-shaped valley is River Colorado. =) Here's just a tiny part of it. On the way back, the rain came back again (and I ate one more granola bar while travelling).

Thank God that the rain stopped once again when we reached Hoover Dam.
And you would have realised even if the sun is shining very brightly, it is actually very cold!!

This is the overflow area of the Dam.
Catching the sunset of Las Vegas on the way back. And the night has just begun as I walk around Las Vegas. This is a pianist on a van along Fremont Street.
Here's a painter on the streets.Ladies and Hunks attracting people into the casinos.
And yes, these photos are taken near my hotel at Fremont Street.

Just 3 more photos of the sights around my hotel before I go downtown.
I was pleasantly surprised to see this man trying to share the gospel on the street with this handwritten sign.
God bless America!
Took bus down to the Las Vegas strip. See this ad on Bally's Jubilee show?

Yes, I'm going to watch the Topless Girls perform...At the cost of USD70.
Guess people who can afford to have fun in casinos are people who can own fanciful cars.

After the show, we walked around the Las Vegas strip on our own. Here's Monte Carlo, And here's Excalibur. Before the show, i went to Wynn but the photos didn't turn out nice in the dark. Here's an overview of the night scene in Las Vegas. There were intermittent rain in the night and each time it rained, we'll take some shelter in the casinos. All the casinos are linked from one to another internally. And I was amazed by the interior of each casino. Most of them follow a theme very closely and when you are inside the casino, you have no sense of day or night, hours and minutes just ticked by... Just like we didn't realise that it is already 2am in the morning...The photos of Venice and Italy didn't turn out too good so I've only put up NY NY's photos here. Below is a photo I took for Tesh with the Statue of Liberty.
No, don't be mistaken, we are not in New York. We are still in Las Vegas!!

And finally MGM Grand where some of my tour mates threw in some coins. I'm amazed that i didn't put in a single coin in any machine in Las Vegas!
Want to know what time I ended today's journey? See tomorrow's blog and you'll know..

10 days here and I've already accumulated 1620 photos. And still counting..
