Off To Macau!!

So here I am, packing all that i need for the next 5 days, on a journey of faith!

Checking in at Singapore's budget terminal.

And waiting in queue to check out at Macau's customs.

The first thing I was greeted with when I landed in Macau isn't the many masked faces ...

but that a Typhoon is on the way here !!!

Taking a cab to the Tapai region of Macau. here's snapping a picture of one of the bridges. I suppose I'm on the Friendship Bridge, so this should be the Macau-Taipa Bridge.

The first sight of Macau Macau..

And the first glimpse of a huge casino building.

Finding the road signs to the famous Ruins of St Paul.

And then realised that i hadn't had lunch when I passed by a bakery..

So I remmebered the reminder by my colleagues "remember to eat the pork chop bun" and bought one to try.. tasted quite normal.. didn't gave the kind of oomph that I was expecting.

More sights of Macau (while still trying to find the famous Ruins of St Paul).
And ended up sighting the Macau Tower instead.

Hanged around at this park (In Chinese, Nan Wan Hu; in Portugese, Lagos De Nam Van) before the rain came again. So I went into a building to seek some refuge... Took the lift and was pleasantly surprised by the "high standards of hygiene".. The sign reads "This lift is sterilized every two hours."

Since the rain was incessant, and rather strong, I decided to just find an eatery and have a proper meal..

Guess which drink would the adventurous me chose? The White Soya bean milk or Black Glutinous rice milk?

An introducing my first meal in Macau! Huge servings huh? Well, I could tell you it's because i'm combining my lunch and dinner together. But the truth is that (my chinese is that bad) i read the menu wrongly and didn't know that whatever you order comes with rice and prickled vegetables. (Hope that explains why I had noodle soup and rice. =P)

After dinner, I got my bearing right, and started on the walk and search of the historical sites. But walking around doesn't necessary meant that I know what I was looking at...

It's interesting to know that Macau is a religious place. It is also know of the City of God.

This is the first church I saw before I entered into the famous Senado Square.
It's St Anthony's Church.

The first thing I saw which I found interesting, however, was a small little shop selling Yong Tau Foo. It was interesting because people buys the Yong Tau Foo like snacks.. like our old chang kee selling fishballs on sticks.. So that's what they do. The customers choose what they like and the hawker will cook/fry the food, put them on the sticks and sell them.

Sights of Senado Square.

That's St Dominic's Church. Somehow, I can't expect perfect pictures taken by others.. the cross on the top of the building (to indicate it as a church) is "chopped" off. But oh well, I just needed a "been-there-done-that" photo.

MacDonald's!

The streets and buildings here are all rather interestingly designed. Each has it's own flavour.

The Holy House of Mercy.
A little walkway on the side of the Holy House of Mercy which gives a little "Portugese" flavour.
A fountain...perhaps the landmark fountain of Senado Square.
Walking away, I saw a wet market..
And then more interesting sights in the backlane..

Not only are there a lot of scooters.. there is a cute hello kitty scooter too! =PApparently Singapore is famous for its BBQ meat .. thus the reason why some BBQ shops in Macau needed to use Singapore's name to publicize their BBQ meat?

Ok, the incessant rain has forced me to a nearby 2 star hotel. We'll continue the sightseeing after I settle down... Hopefully the rain would have stopped by then.
Matthew 5:45
He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good,
and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.
