Exploring Nepal

8.30am Taking a photo with my 55L backpack before checking in. Taking a breather at the T2 Sanctuary after checking in. (Yea, the flight's at 9.10am and I reached the airport barely 40mins earlier amidst the rain and traffic jam =p )
Thank God for a safe journey to the airport, and now getting ready to board the flight to Nepal!

This must have been the first time I'm on SilkAir.. Was actually disappointed that there are no personal TV entertainment on board.
Thankfully we were seated on the right side of the plane, and thus, at least being awed by the Himalayan Ranges out of the window. (no, those are not clouds. Those are ice-capped mountains!)

From the mountains to the valleys =)

2pm SGT, (12pm) Reached Kathmandu!
Taking a shuttle bus from the plan to the TR BHUVAN International Airport.
Reaching the humble building.

Proceeding to the Arrival hall (while keeping a lookout for the "Visa counter")
Filling up the Visa Application form.

And finally, being warmly greeted by our guide!
Wooh.. the garland IS heavy. =P
Sights along the streets while travelling to our hotel.
Seeing an unbelievable pile of rubbish left "strategically" along the roadside before reaching our hotel.
In the hotel lobby which we will stay in when we are in Kathmandu.
And the rooms are not too bad too. =)

View of the City from our hotel room's window.

Walking around Thamel while there's still daylight.
Flags and decorations leftover from the recent Deepavali (similar to our Chinatown during Chinese New Year)

Hats, woollen caps, anyone?
A demonstration in place. . (Thankfully it didn't turn into a major riot)
The New King's Palace "Musuem". As in, this is not the current's King's Palace. It was one of the previous King's Palace, but not the same as the Old King's Palace.. Confusing huh? Need to read up some history here. Anyway, if I didn't hear wrongly, this place is 13Km by 13Km.. that's like a third of the size of Singapore...
7pm Dinner!

Well, in a hotel, you get recognisable food (like above) and a glimpse of what kind of soup (like below) are to come in days to come..

*************
P.S: It was interesting to find the word "garland' used in God's Word.

Proverbs 4:7-9
"Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom,.
Though it will cost all you have, get understanding.
Esteem her, and she will exalt you;
embrace her, and she will honor you.
She will set a garland of grace on your head
and present you with a crown of splendor."
I want that garland of grace set by wisdom.
