Missing

Mom was instructing the maid what to look out for and which stall to go at the wet market for the bargains when the thought "Isn't Auntie Chun Lian able to do this?"just swept past my mind. "Why don't we just ask her for help, to show the way?" Suddenly, an uncanny memory that Auntie Chun Lian is no longer around arose subtlely. And a mini debate began in my mind. "She's not here anymore." "But I thought it was just yesterday that she visited my home and chit-chatted with mom." "No, think carefully again. She's not around anymore." "But I feel that she's still around." "No, you can't get her anymore." "When was she gone? Why?" I searched my mind like I was searching through the files in a cabinet. "Oh.. late August.. yes, she's left us". For a moment, my heart wrenched in vague remembrance that someone so close is no longer around.

Have you ever suddenly remembered that someone is missing while going about your daily tasks? Or sometimes in the midst of doing something, you realised that you've missed someone's presence? It's a "Oh.. she's no longer with us" or "he's not here anymore"...and then with a human sigh, we go "so sad"..

Now as I ponder on the last words of Jesus in John 14, I'm so thankful that Jesus, though leaving, ensured that we are never alone. He promised in John 14:16 that He
will ask the Father, and He will give us another Counselor to be with us forever— the Spirit of truth." Jesus reassured again in John 14:18 that He "will not leave us as orphans".

John 14:25-27

“All this I have spoken while still with you.
But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives.
Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."

Thank God for the peace that He has given us.
