Kathmandu City

City Tour of Kathmandu.. Ok, i was actually NOT clad in this oversized jacket.. but it was sooo cold, I just had to borrow it from someone..
Entrance to the world's largest Stupa.

The surroundings have been commercialised with touristy shops.
Inside the Stupa.
Very much like what you'll see in a Chinese Temple.

World heritage site.
Were these pigeons once caught and set free? I wondered..
Light a lamp..
Modern lamps? =P
Visiting a Chinese Temple.
The Wheel of Life and Death.

Visiting one of the largest shopping mall in town!
I didn't think of taking photos in the mall, but there were a lot of stuff.. A few storeys of departmental stores and guess what I bought? I bought a pair of my usual walking boots at less than 700 rupees (that is less than S$13 a pair!).

Ice Kachang, anyone?

Apparently we were so excited over our lunch that by the time I remembered to take any photos, this is all that is left of the fish. =P

Weaving through a crowded market.
Spices and curry powder?

Things here are cheaper than all we've seen. Perhaps it's because here is where the locals get their goods. =)
Bamboo flutes at 100 rupees ($2) before bargaining.
Walking around Dubar Square.
Sacred cows.. They are huge!
Time to read up on some history..
Entering into the house of the living goddess.
People crowd around here to wait for the little girl to appear. The little girl, chosen at a young age, to be a Goddess, until she reaches puberty and gets replaced by another.
No pictures of the little living goddess was allowed to be taken when she appears... so... take me instead la..

Ending the night with a traditional Nepali meal.
The authentic way they serve the rice wine.

Trying out the local Everest Beer.

After the popcorn, is some potato appetizers.
Next is a serving of Momo. (All these are individual servings) Then the lentil soup which I never quite got accustomed to..Meanwhile enjoying live Nepali music and dance entertainment. This time round, the curry chicken is free-flow...Since everything is so Nepali here, shouldn't I try eating with my hands as well?
Cheers to a good trip and unforgettable experience!

Psalms 118:24
This is the day the LORD has made;
let us rejoice and be glad in it.
