Sharing a Joyous Occasion

Did i tell you how deceptive the weather in California is? It is nice and cool. And it's dry. So even in Las Vegas, with 38 degrees, you don't feel it's that hot becuase you don't feel sweaty. BUT if you think the sun is no longer working, it's not true. No matter how great the weather is, the SUN is still SHINING. It's SUMMER, remember? And it's Shining. Brightly. On. you. & me.

That's it. I got darker and darker and darker by the day. Actually I think a partial reason why I forgot about the sun block lotion was because I was almost freaking out when my face was cracking out of dryness during the first 10 days of my trip there. By the time my face was back to it's smooth and bouncy state, I was part of the 7 day tour already.. And people who don't know you probably won't know how much fairer you were.

When I finally met up with Sylvia, she kind of forgotten how I used to look like. hahaha Sylvia didn't remember the half pony that I usually tie my hair with. Anywayz, it was after Disneyland when we reached home when Sylvia suddenly looked at me and said "eh, you are RED leh.. you ARE going to be very DARK". Aaaahhhhhhhh.....That's when I looked at myself in reality and let out a silent scream which was louder than any scream derived from any rollercoaster ride. =p

The next few days (which was like the last 3 days in California), saw me trying to roll up my sleeves wherever I go. Well, if i can't get rid of my tan, at least I try to even out the short sleeve tan line. And though it seemed a bit late, I started putting on some lotion which Sylvia gave me.

Then it was during one of those long car rides to San Francisco. A day or two before I'm flying back to Singapore. When I got bored. Nothing to do at the back of the car. And my eyes wondered around and began reading the bottle of lotion that Sylvia passed to me. "Sylvia!!" I exclaimed. "This is not Sun Block!! It only provides UV protection. It doesn't block the tan!" I whined. That's it. To take things positively, I shall go back with a beautiful Californian Tan.

The first person who noticed the difference was Lisa when she and Ian welcomed me at the door. Proven. I've grown darker. And hopefully, looked healthier with that tan.

Ok, back to the wedding. I woke up on Saturday around 11am, at first thinking that I could have the whole day to relax when I suddenly realised that I have a wedding to attend!!

Oh man, can I still fit into the gown meant for the night? (I was supposed to be one of the dinner receptionist.) Which other simpler dress could I wear for the church wedding? Do I want to come home after the church wedding to change or do I want to bring the stuff there to change. Ahh.. there's no time already, and i need to rush to the nearest ATM to draw money so as to prepare the red packets for a quarter of a dozen of people, including myself..

Like what quirkie said in her blog, it's a whirlwind. For her, it's cos she almost half freaked out in her preparation to be the mandarin speaking emcee. For me, it was a whirlwind of coordinating meeting who at what time prior to the wedding. There's no car pooling.. =p so gotta take public transport.. so I gotta meet Cindy at 1pm at Bukit Batok MRT, then we'll meet Hmay at 1.30pm at Bugis MRT and then walk to the church.

Think it's over? Not yet. It was a whirlwind when Cindy was late and Hmay's shoe broke and so we had to wait for her to get a new pair of shoes from OG before we go to the church.

But I enjoyed the church wedding. Or rather, the meeting up and gathering of people. Meeting Lichun was great. Returning kai a hug was great too. And Amy could recognised that i changed my hairstyle (as in i didn't have that half pony tail). Meeting up with Pris, Daphne among others was great.

Between the church wedding and dinner, Lichun and I enjoyed a relaxing afternoon or catching up over tea and tiramisu at Bugis. Then come 6pm. Another whirlwind of mad rush. I could have had spent more time with Lichun if I wasn't the dinner receptionist who had to be there by 6.30pm -- which meant i needed to reach the hotel before 6.30pm, to shower and change and look pretty for the night =p

The rest of the night was another whirlwind of mad events (especially at the beginning) which I shan't elaborate here. I also played the role of being Santarina giving out gifts which Sylvia asked me to.

And then we lamented that NO ONE brought their digital cameras. I can't believe it. Thank God for the advance technology of handphone-cameras and pda-cameras.

A picture of our batch of crusaders (and some of their other halves) for the keepsake of a most memorable night of a very dear sister's wedding. Reb & SJ, congrats. =)
