Back to Church!

Oh, I missed out the part yesterday where after church wedding, when we moved forward to take group photos with the bride and groom, hmay suddenly took a second look at me and said "Eh, you look very dark leh.." She stared at me for another second or two and said again "Wah, you really really look very very dark leh.hahaha" :S

Today after service, the second welcome greeting I got is this. "Wah, you look dark!" A youth leader said when she looked at me with a big welcome back smile on her face and then continued "Just like me!" as she raised up her arms to show the tan she has gotten after attending some camp.

Is God trying to tell me something? The pastor at Sylvia's church last sunday shared about "Footprints in the sand." Today, Rev Abraham also mentioned "Footprints in the sand" in the midst of the sermon. Let me put the well known story down below.

Footprints
One night a man had a dream. He dreamed He was walking along the beach with the LORD. Across the sky flashed scenes from His life. For each scene He noticed two sets of footprints in the sand. One belonging to Him and the other to the LORD.

When the last scene of His life flashed before Him, He looked back at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of His life there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times of His life.

This really bothered Him and He questioned the LORD about it. LORD you said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why when I needed you most you would leave me.

The LORD replied, my precious, precious child, I love you and I would never leave you! During your times of trial and suffering when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.

Rev Abraham continued his message (i've translated to English) "This is crap. How can it be? How can the person not know that he was being carried?" You would know it if someone is carrying you right? You would know it even if someone touched you or hug you. How could you not know if someone is carrying you?

"Yes, it is possible." Rev Abraham countered. When we are at our most uncertain, down and unstable moments. In the midst of turmoils, troubles and snares, we often do not realize that we are being helped. It's like you are in a hurry to go out but you can't find your keys, only to realise that you have been holding it all along. How is it that you didn't know? It's like you couldn't find your spectacles, only to find it on your head, or worst still, already wearing it. How is it that you didn't know? It's like when i'm enjoying the US vacation so much that i wasn't bothered by the shining sun. How is that i didn't know? So it is with our life. When we think that God is far away and doesn't seem to care. He is still there, supporting and guiding us through. No, He won't remove us from our circumstances and undesirable situations, but he will be there for us, encouraging and strengthening us along the way. This is my God who loves.

7 people prayed to receive Christ on Sunday. What a joy as I come back to my church family, partaking the Holy Communion and rejoicing with the heavens as new friends come to know Jesus as their personal Lord and Saviour.

In the evening, there was Young Adults gathering. Agnes looked at me and said "Eh, you are very dark leh", her head nodding vigorously "Yes..very dark.. but look healthy la."

Oh well, I'll wait upon my Lord Jesus Christ (like what we studied in Luke 12) and store my treasures in heaven, as I wait for my tan to fade...
