Badminton in Church!! =)

How often do you get your two loves together!! This is two of my loves in one! I love church. I love badminton. Imagine playing badminton in church!! And that has finally materialised after 1 year of small talks in my small group!!

Of course we need to thank God for providing all the resources.. Having a large spacious English Worship Hall... Being able to afford the costly badminton floor mat.. and of course, God's servants who agreed to help out with the setting up the court, booking of the courts etc.

And so today is the launch of the Badminton Sports Ministry. It's hardwork setting up the court.. Before we can even lay the mats, we needed to shift away all the chairs to the sides and roll away the red-carpet down the middle of the aisle. Then we can begin to lay the 3 piece badminton mat.

Above, you see the first mat being laid. Below, you see the second mat being laid.
And then unrolling the 3rd mat halfway... oops.. it's the wrong side!
So we gotta roll it back, and then bring it to the other end of the court to unroll it.
Think it's done? Nope, another good 15 minutes is spent on aligning the 3 mats, not just side by side, but also in the hall as well. Then there's this special roller with tape that fixes the 3 mats together. Only after that, the setting up of the poles and net can be done. All in all, it's teamwork and 40mins to set up the court.

Since it's the launch of the Badminton Sports Ministry, we drew the curtains, closed the door, set up a little ribbon. When everyone gathered, Rev Abraham cut the ribbon and Rev Choo said a little prayer. After most of the pastors, elders, deacons and seminarians stepped into the court, held a racket and hit a shuttle, almost everyone else, young and old, had their fair share of playing badminton in the English Worship Hall.

Kudos to NLC Badminton Sports Ministry!!
