"Don's Chicken Pie at China Square Central", the sms reply informed me of the venue for lunch.
Closer friends will know that I'm terrible with directions in town. Though I've been there lots of time, i'm still learning which building is beside which building (only after I've been there). And yes, I only know how to go to certain places from a certain direction.
So I was there, near Raffles Place MRT, trying to figure my way out to China Square Central. I thought about asking people for directions but decided that I could try walking in the direction which i assumed to be correct, first. Anyway, it was obvious that the direction can't be towards the River..
So I walked and walked and walked and started wondering if I should ask for directions.
Then a lady stopped me. "Do you know which way to Citibank?" I went blank. I don't even know where I am now. How do I help? "Erm... I'm sorry, I don't." I replied and we each went on our way. (I was secretly hoping that I won't bump into her again as I try to figure this maze out myself!)
After a while, time was running short and I had no choice but to ask for directions. And sure enough, I found the way to reach my destination very quickly!
Many, like me, would rather try to figure out their own way instead of asking for help. Little did many realised that even after they have received the answer, they will still need to walk to their destination. It's just like faith. Even if you know that Jesus is the Answer, you'll need to start taking the step of faith and begin the journey of eternal life.
If I do not know the way, there's no way I can lead others to the destination. Question for those of us who know the way is this, "if you know the way, how often do you look out for the lost and take the initiative to help others?"
