The difference between long and short

Today I felt the difference.

Taking mere 30mins to travel to work (yes, inclusive of the walking distance) compared to the nearly 2 hours of gruelling journey to work... Yes, I felt the difference.

When I attended BPGC, it was a 20 minute bus journey away. But today, it takes me the same time to reach NLC, sometimes even lesser time. The difference is in taking a 40 mins public transport and having someone to drive you there in 15 mins.

However, it matters not the distance nor time spent. But rather, how the time was spent.

Sometimes taking the bus is longer than taking the train, but I would still choose to take the bus because I know that I'll have a higher probability of getting a seat on the bus. Not because I'm lazy, but because I'm able to do more stuff like reading or typing on the laptop when I'm sitting down. And so the logic of being more willing to take a 50mins bus ride (while being able to do constructive stuff) instead of taking a 40mins train ride (standing throughout, doing nothing).

Taking public transport is usually slower than private car. But sometimes I choose to take public transport too. It might be a longer journey, but being alone enables me to have more time and personal space for myself to do my own things. Hopping onto a free ride sometimes makes one feel obliged.

So it really matters not the distance nor time. But rather, how the time was spent.

"Do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord, a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day." 2 Peter 3:8

How are you spending your time on earth?
