Being Detailed About Every Moment

I've been of little words lately.

A friend asked on MSN "So how was your weekend?" and I replied "Good."

She tried to open me up a little more "That's good, what did you do?"

So I replied "Saturday, I went out, met a friend, did some shopping and watched Ratatuoille. Sunday, church." The conversation could have ended easily with a "That's fruitful." from my friend.

I could have elaborated. (and I did)

I was rushing to somewhere on Saturday morning (due to my usual bad habit of last-minuteness).

I was supposed to reach that place at 10am. But I only left my home at 9.10am. The timing was ok, except that the rain started to pour. So I was afraid that there will be no cab in sight. But thank God! The cab did come in a jiffy and I got up the cab.

When the cab reached my destination, I opened my wallet and realised that I gonna be a few cents short. The cab driver was nice. He said "It's ok, it's only a few cents, just leave it." But I was determined to pay up for the difference, so i took out a US 1 dollar bill (leftover from my recent US trip) and gave it to the uncle. It may be a little troublesome for him, but at least he still have SGD 1.45 if he were to bring it to the money changer (and if the money changer would allow him to change only 1 US Dollar).

Anyway, I still had time before my appointed schedule, so i decided to go to the library to return some books first. Then I did my stuff. After completing my stuff, I went to another place to collect some materials. Then I smsed a friend for lunch. So while waiting for my friend's reply, I went to pay my handphone bills and ended up walking around a supermarket.

In the supermarket, some cut flowers caught sight of my eyes..and I saw that lilies were only 4 for $5! I thought I could get some to brighten up the house (since I didn't get any extra for myself last week) and on impulse bought it! With cut flowers in hand, and no replies from my friend, I decided to head home. Afterall, I'll take about an hour to reach home by bus and the flowers need water.

After I got up the bus, my friend called! Argh.. and he wanted to meet in town, near where I've just left off. But I had the flowers in hand already.. so I negotiated to meet him nearer my house, since he was travelling from the other end of Singapore anyway.

So I went home, left the flowers, hanged around for about 15 mins, unpacked my bag, grabbed the gift that I had bought from US for my friend, and went to meet him.

I saw the bus coming after I crossed the road, so I ran to the bus stop and was sure glad that I managed to get up the bus! Then I started to search my bag for the wallet. I searched and searched and searched... to no avail. Oh no! I've left my wallet at home! Argh... Do I get down the next stop and walk home or do I ask for a free ride? I decided I was running late and so I turned to the bus driver and in my most endearing look, smiled and asked "I'm sorry, Uncle, I left my wallet at home. Can I have a free ride, pleeeaase?" People are nice. The bus driver smiled and said "ok ok". I said a hasty thank you and went to the back of the bus quickly, lest he should change his mind.

When I finally met my friend, I said "I'm sorry, lunch is on you today, I left my wallet at home."

After lunch, the pasar malam and shopping in the suburb tempted me to relax and pamper myself. And I did.. I started buying some pants and shoes which I should have gotten long ago. And I had to do it on credit -- getting my friend to pay for me first.

So I began to feel bad. And then I said "Let's go to the library after this, at least it is a place that I don't have to get something without borrowing anything (esp money) from you." Alas, I was wrong. My library card was in my wallet too! So even if I wanted to borrow a book, I would have to borrow my friend's card too! As a result, I didn't borrow anything in the end.

Finally, I decided to go home. In an attempt not to borrow anymore money, I asked him if he would like to walk home together with me. We did. We walked the distance of one train station apart.

When I reached home, I enjoyed the home cooked dinner, thereafter watched Ratatouille and finally had a restful night.

Truly, what an eventful and fulfilling day.

With efforts put in, a conversation can always be held. But how many would be interested to hear my stories? I've been pondering about that. Perhaps that's why I'm of fewer words these days.

What matters most I guess, is that being detailed about every moment helps me to thank God for every detail of my life. And I really do thank Him for being at every detail of my life. =)
