Visited the church where I had attended kindergarten when I was young.
It's one of the most traditional services I've ever been to and among all the hymns sung, the hymn below touched my heart when I first heard it.
Did a search online and realised that this hymn was written by Natalie A. Sleeth. She was pondering the death of a friend (life and death, death and resurrection), pondering winter and spring (seeming opposites), and a T. S. Eliot poem which had the phrase, ‘In our end is our beginning.’ These seemingly contradictory ‘pairs’ led to the thesis of the song and the hopeful message that out of one will come the other whenever God chooses to bring that about.
Another webpage indicated that this song was very suitable at funerals.
No wonder it ministered to me so much. I realised that although it seemed as though everything on the outside was over now and seemingly settled down, we are still grieving.
Matthew 5:4
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
Thank God for the hope and promise of life.
