We went to this place called Bottle Tree ... and I was disappointed.. I thought there would be many Bottle Trees in the whole area.. only to realise that there's ONLY ONE Bottle Tree there...
And it's that tree behind me in the photo.. it costs some S$30,000 for the owner to import it from Australia....
Wow.. S$30,000 for a tree like that? In all the owner had spent about S$100,000 to import 4 "exotic plants", of which the Bottle Tree is the most costly..
This reminded me of a short parable in the bible.
Matthew 13:44-46
"The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.
Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it."
The owner found the tree so worthy that he is willing to part $30,000 for it.
Scripture described the kingdom of heaven like a treasure worth so much that a man would, for the kingdom of heaven , go in joy and sell all that he had in exchange for it.
Have you found anything so worthy which you would willingly and joyfully part with all that you have, everything you have to exchange for it? What would you do if you found the kingdom of heaven? How much would you be willing to sacrifice in exchange for it?
