Misunderstood

Have you been misunderstood before and then felt hurt for being misunderstood?

Have there ever been days when you meant no evil but you're being misunderstood as being out to harm to others?

I have. And it wasn't a nice feeling. I have been misunderstood before and still have been misunderstood sometimes today.

But you know what? God too has been very misunderstood.

When God saw that that is not good for the man to be alone, He made a helper for him.Genesis 2:18 But when Adam sinned, he pointed the finger back to God and claimed that it was the woman God put there with him who caused him to sin.Genesis 3:12

When God brought the Israelites out of Eygpt and slavery, the Israelites complained "If only we had died by the LORD's hand in Egypt! There we sat around pots of meat and ate all the food we wanted, but you have brought us out into this desert to starve this entire assembly to death." Exodus 16:3

When Jesus taught in the synagogue in His hometown, the people were amazed by His wisdom,Luke4:22 yet when they realised that he is a son of a mere carpenter, they took offence at Him and drove Him out.Luke 4:29

When Jesus decided to stay at a Tax Collector's house, all the people muttered, "He has gone to be the guest of a 'sinner.' " Luke19:7 For they did not know that the Son of Man had came to seek and to save what was lost. Luke19:1o

Today, when we share with another that God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. John3:16 Some even misunderstand this statement as God scheming people to hell unless they turn to Him.

Thankfully our God is a gracious and forgiving God. Much as it hurts Him to be misunderstood, He says "forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing." Luke 23:34

Lord, teach me to love and forgive just as You did.
