It's the time of the year again.

Read a humour book full of quotes recently and found this phrase especially apt today.
"Everyone now works for the government, either on the payroll or on the tax roll."

Mark 12:14-17
They came to him and said, "Teacher, we know you are a man of integrity. You aren't swayed by men, because you pay no attention to who they are; but you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. Is it right to pay taxes to Caesar or not? Should we pay or shouldn't we?" But Jesus knew their hypocrisy. "Why are you trying to trap me?" he asked. "Bring me a denarius and let me look at it." They brought the coin, and he asked them, "Whose portrait is this? And whose inscription?" "Caesar's," they replied.
Then Jesus said to them, "Give to Caesar what is Caesar's and to God what is God's."
And they were amazed at him.

And they were amazed! How amazed were you when you read this? I loved this portion of the scriptures. Jesus simply said, "Give to Caesar what is Caesar's and to God what is God's."
And they were amazed at him. Were you amazed when you read it?
If you are amazed because you are surprised that Jesus says to give taxes to the government, then that's not the real amazement.
The real amazement comes when you understand the scriptures in context. And then you'll be amazed by the wisdom of Jesus, just as the Pharisees and teachers of the laws were amazed by the response of Jesus.
"Give to Caesar what is Caesar's and to God what is God's."
If you are still puzzled and would like to share in the amazement, let me know.
I'm be most willing to share. =)
May you be amazed by the Word of God.
