Avoiding the usual crowds in town or central areas, I chose to join a friend at Sembawang for this year's countdown. There had been news that there will be fireworks celebrations at midnight in thiw suburban town tonight.
The near full moon shone brightly while some party revellers enjoyed the night away on earth.
Besides the party grounds was a wide plain area of grassland where the fireworks are placed. As the clock nears to quarter to 12, there was still hardly anybody in sight. This is rare. As far as I can remember, Singaporeans swarm the places where fireworks are held. Perhaps the publicity for this event was not as widespread. In some sense, I prefer it this way as it is not so crowded.
Yet 5 mins to midnight, it's amazing where the crowds stream in from.
Soon the atmosphere warmed up despite the initial drizzle.
Sorry, no photos cos I was video-ing down the fireworks.
After the event, I took the train back home. Here's the view from the train platform. While the crowd watching the fireworks has left, the party folks are still enjoying their night away.

Went home and received a forwarded mail from a sister-in-Christ on the topic of New Year Resolutions. Here are some of the contents:
Colossians 3:17
And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

"The practice of making New Year’s resolutions goes back over 3000 years to the ancient Babylonians. There is just something about the start of a New Year that gives us the feeling of a fresh start and a new beginning. In reality, there is no difference between December 31st and January 1st. Nothing mystical occurs at midnight on December 31st. The Bible does not speak for or against the concept of New Year’s resolutions."
Colossians 3:17
