My first Lo-Hei this year

In Singapore, there's this tradition of doing what we call a Lo-Hei during Chinese New Year. Basically, it's a mass (or mess =P ) of different coloured vegetables and some variety of seasonings. The host will usually say some words of blessings as she/he pours out the seasoning.

Well, apparently there's a christian version to this too and so my church's small group adopts that.

Red envelope which contains pepper
" Praise the Lord, for peppering us with your loving kindness "

Green envelope which contains five-spice powder
" Praise the Lord, for accepting our labor as a fragrant offering to His plan "

Fish
" Praise the Lord, for the grace of God to be fishers of men "

Oil
" Praise the Lord, for the oil that keeps us burning in this fight of faith " or
" Praise the Lord, for anointing us with the oil of joy " ( Psalm 45:7 )

Plum Sauce
" Praise the Lord, for the sweetness of your Words …… sweeter than honey to my mouth " ( Ps 119:103 )

Crackers
" Praise the Lord, for the street of pure gold that you have prepared for us to live in eternity." ( Rev 21:21 )

Yes, we'll be lo-hei-ing again!
Come, join my mini-spiritual family for a massive Lo-Hei at NLC on 8th Feb. =)
