Orchard Road flooded! I was about to have a meeting right there in the middle of Orchard in the afternoon when news/sms/emails/phone-calls/msns began annoucing, albeit to the disbelief of most people, that Orchard Road is flooded. I was in the eastern part of Singapore having a meeting when I began to receive the sms-es, and missed calls. When I returned the calls after my meeting, it was like re-living the day when Nicoll Highway fell. In some sense, it did warm my heart that my company/office/colleagues remember and bother to call me to confirm my safety and to inform me about the unforeseen and undesirable situation.
Though unbelievable (until I see the pictures and hear it on the news), I trusted my colleague when she gave me a call. This particular colleague wasn't one who would usually be concerned about my well-being (at least not in terms of my travel safety), and not one whom I think would check on weather conditions regularly. Yet when she called me, I trusted her even though with a little verbalised doubting thoughts and questions. Because of that, I went back to office in the west, and avoided the flood in central Singapore. That reminded me of the story of Noah. Noah was a man called righteous by God. Righteous because he was in right standing with God, and he was close to God. He knew that the great flood was coming and he tried his best to tell everyone about it but no one listened to him. In the end, only Noah and his family (and the animals) survived the flood.
I wondered what made me so trusting to my colleague.
I wondered if Noah was here today telling us that a great flood is coming upon us, would I have trusted him too?
What about you?

Psalms 29:10
The LORD sits enthroned over the flood; the LORD is enthroned as King forever.
