Fund Raising Effort for 2 Charities

The walkathon served 2 purposes.
1)To raise funds for 2 charities - Children Cancer Foundation and Club Rainbow Singapore.
2) To raise awareness to the community that the church is doing something.

For me and many of my churchmates, it was a challenge and chance to serve.

The challenge is not in raising S$100,000 for the walkathon. By faith, I was sure that we would reach that target. (Afterall, the church raised S$200,000 for the Sichuan earthquake within a few weeks earlier this year).

The challenge was that in asking for the donations to be pledged on the card, one would need to reveal one's association with church. And that may raise some eyebrows. That may also result in a rejection of donation appeal.

I took the challenge with fear and trembling. It was good opportunity to tell close friends that you are a christian, but it took a lot of great courage to tell everyone that you are a christian.

Matthew 10:32-33

Jesus said "Therefore everyone who confesses Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven."

Father, forgive for the times we've disowned you.

Luke 22:61-62

The Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had told him, “Before a rooster crows today, you will deny Me three times.” And he went out and wept bitterly.

Peter wept bitterly and was forgiven. Father, thank You for Your great love and mercy.
